The World Bank Office in Moldova announced today the 10 finalists of the Youth Development Marketplace, Ukraine-Belarus-Moldova 2008 .

 

Following an evaluation process involving experts from a number of international donor organizations, the best 10 project ideas were announced, whose authors became Moldova’s finalists for the final stage of the competition. 

 

55 project ideas were submitted for the competition. Out of the total number of 55 ideas, 37 were eligible for evaluation. Out of those 10 finalists’ ideas, 7 refer to employment opportunities and 3 to healthy lifestyle. Chisinau is represented by 4 finalists’ ideas, Basarabeasca by 2, while Cahul, Comrat, Taraclia and Ungheni by 1 each.

 

The 10 finalists will have to fill in the full project proposal form and submit it to an international jury. Also, they will have to do a live promotion of the project before the members of the international jury in the final stage that will be held in Kiev during April 3-4, 2008. During the final stage in Kiev the finalists from Moldova will compete with another 30 finalists from Belarus and Ukraine. The total grant amount allocated by the World Bank for Ukraine, Belarus and Moldova is USD200 thousand, and other donors may contribute if there is an eventual increase in the number of winning projects. One grant cannot exceed the amount of USD20 thousand.
