Results and the World Bank in Moldova

Available in: Limba română

This report describes development results in Moldova, with particular reference to the World Bank’s program since July 2004. It is the first in a planned series of annual reports. It is intended to inform discussions with the government, with development partners, as well as with management and staff internally within the Bank. The form and content of the reports are expected to evolve in the light of feedback from the government and partners, as well as future experience in implementation.

The report is structured as follows. Section II summarizes Moldova’s progress on a range of economic and social development dimensions since July 1, 2004.[1]  Section III summarizes the Bank’s strategy for engagement in Moldova, progress with its implementation, and a selection of qualitative and quantitative indicators of performance. Section IV assesses the links between country-level achievements and the IDA program. Finally, Section V sets out overall conclusions and actions planned to build national capacity to manage for results through our engagement with the government and other stakeholders, while strengthening the results dimensions in the Bank’s own activities in the coming year.
